Album Review--Rihanna Unapologetic

Unapologetic is Rihanna’s seventh studio album and honestly to me the most disappointing.
I am not counting her first two albums I’m speaking from her career changing “Good Girl Gone Bad” album. Since that time all of her albums have had pop, rock, and a slight island feel. Each album has grown in popularity to the point where she is now one of those artists who can sell albums off name recognition.
Her new album is off to a good start already number 1 on ITunes and will surely give her the stat she has been lacking…a number 1 album. Diamonds for me was a great choice as a headlining single because it was so much different from what were used to hearing from her. This song was much more laid back, mellow, and displayed a Rihanna who has been working on her vocals. Listening to this album just reminded me of how sick I am of hearing the house music theme in pop music. Overall, the album is a DJ’s dream because he can choose what songs to mix at the club but for those that are looking for growth and something new from Rihanna…this album is not it. There are a few stand out tracks on this album that is worth a listen. The lead single Diamonds is great along with “Stay”, “Loveeeee Song”, and the very catchy “Nobody’s Business” with Chris Brown.
