From the Corner to the Corner Office

Forget the gold chains and gold rangs...bring me the huge checks and the investment portfolios.

Over the years hip hop has become just a tad bit more shallow and a lot less poetic. The days of having lyrical albums such as Jay Z's "Reasonable Doubt" or Nas epic album "Illmatic" we are not stuck with Trinidad James & 2 Chains.  The days of social conscience rap is done and the years of mindless music has taken over. Only a few artists have been able to stay relevant from the 90's but the difference with Jay Z is that he's about his business and has now given the industry another reason to kiss his feet.

He just signed a publishing deal with Warner/Chappell Music that will make him the master of all the music he's ever done. By the end of 2014 every thing he's done since Reasonable doubt will be at his command. Which mean anytime someone wants to re do his songs, use his songs in a movie, stream his songs online he will get cut a nice big check.

It gets better though

With this deal Warner Brothers will also give him copyrights over the music of other artists music that is under his Roc Nation roster. Meaning his writers who wrote hit songs like "Grenade" for Bruno Mars and some of Kanye Wests biggest hits will be at his disposal. You can call Jay Z ugly, you can call him undeserving of the Queen but one thing you can't deny is that he has built his empire very well and if he didn't rap another verse he would be wealthy until the day he is buried.

Speaking of the queen...it is rumored that she will also sign a similar deal with Warner Brothers that could possibly give her copyright power over everything dating back to...you guessed it "Survivor"
